Adriano Espaillat, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 13th district and a native of the Dominican Republic, used social media on August 10, 2025, to celebrate Dominican heritage and its influence in New York City and across the United States.

In a tweet posted at 15:04 UTC, Espaillat stated, “Today, we proudly honor Dominican heritage and our growing influence across NYC and the nation. Happy #DominicanDay recognition to all who are celebrating “.

Later that day at 17:39 UTC, he shared another message highlighting community participation: “Proud to join NYC leaders and @NatDDP in recognizing Dominican heritage and its profound impact on our city — celebrating the diaspora, honoring its history, and shaping our shared future. ¡Estamos aquí! “.

Espaillat also addressed Spanish-speaking audiences with a post at 21:49 UTC: “Hoy honramos con orgullo la herencia dominicana y nuestra creciente influencia en Nueva York y el país. ¡Feliz #DíaDominicano a todos los que celebran! “.

Adriano Espaillat has served in Congress since 2017 after succeeding Charles Rangel. Before his tenure in the U.S. House of Representatives, he was a member of the New York State Assembly from 1997 to 2010 and served in the New York State Senate from 2011 to 2016. Born in Santiago, Dominican Republic in 1954, Espaillat has lived in Manhattan for many years. He graduated from Queens College of the City University of New York with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1978.
