Adriano Espaillat, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 13th district and a native of Santiago, Dominican Republic, highlighted his recent community engagement and constituent services in a series of social media posts this week.

On August 7, Espaillat shared an example of his office’s work, stating: “Otra historia de éxito con la ayuda de mi equipo de servicios a los constituyentes. The following day, Espaillat posted about his participation in a public safety event alongside the New York Police Department and leaders from the National Dominican Day Parade. On August 8, he wrote: “Today, I stood united with the NYPD and @NatDDP leaders to ensure a safe and celebratory weekend. Together, we’re uplifting Dominican heritage and community while prioritizing public safety. https://t.co/j0RwJAiBVh”. Later that same day, he reiterated the message in Spanish: “Hoy, me uní a los líderes del NYPD y del @NatDDP para garantizar un fin de semana seguro y festivo. Juntos, enaltecemos la herencia y la comunidad dominicana, priorizando la seguridad pública. “.

Espaillat has represented New York’s 13th district in Congress since 2017 after succeeding Charles Rangel. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in the New York State Assembly from 1997 to 2010 and in the State Senate from 2011 to 2016. Born in Santiago in 1954 and now residing in Manhattan, Espaillat graduated from Queens College of the City University of New York with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1978.
