Adriano Espaillat, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 13th district, has voiced his concerns regarding recent actions by the Trump administration through a series of tweets. Espaillat, who succeeded Charles Rangel in 2017 and has served in various political roles since 1997, addressed issues surrounding unrest and law enforcement anonymity.
On June 9, 2025, Espaillat expressed his opinion on the Trump administration’s approach to national unity. He stated that “The Trump administration is baiting unrest instead of working to bring our nation together.” He emphasized the importance of responding with non-violence to protect immigrant communities.
In another tweet on the same day, Espaillat commented on law enforcement practices: “Si eres un agente de la ley, no se te deberÃa permitir esconderte detrás del anonimato.”
Reiterating his earlier statement in Spanish at nearly the same time, he noted that “La administración Trump está incitando la agitación en lugar de trabajar para unir a nuestra nación.” This underscores his stance against provocation and commitment to non-violent resistance for immigrant safety.
Adriano Espaillat was born in Santiago, Dominican Republic in 1954 and currently resides in Manhattan. A graduate of Queens College at City University of New York with a BA degree earned in 1978, he brings decades of experience from serving in both the New York State Assembly and Senate before his current congressional role.
