Adriano Espaillat, who has represented New York’s 13th District in the U.S. Congress since 2017, recently used social media to criticize Republican policies and their impact on American competitiveness and family welfare. Espaillat, a former member of both the New York State Assembly and Senate, posted several messages addressing concerns over education, housing, and the broader implications of current legislative agendas.

On July 14, 2025, Espaillat wrote: “This administration talks about staying competitive with China in the same breath that it guts the very things that make us competitive. Our kids can’t be competitive if they’re struggling to read and are going hungry thanks to the extreme Republican agenda.” He further stated: “They’re not just”.

Later that day, Espaillat addressed housing issues in another post dated July 14, 2025: “Even during a cost-of-living crisis, Republicans are making it harder for families to keep a roof over their heads. Stripping Housing & Urban Development resources is cruel & reckless. I’m fighting with @AppropsDems to stop this war on the working”.

He added: “No solo”.

Adriano Espaillat was born in Santiago, Dominican Republic in 1954 and currently resides in Manhattan. He earned his BA from Queens College, City University of New York in 1978. Before joining Congress in 2017 as Charles Rangel’s successor, he served in both chambers of the New York State Legislature.
