U.S. Congressman Adriano Espaillat, who represents New York’s 13th district, criticized Republican national security and immigration policies in a series of posts on July 23, 2025.
In his first post, Espaillat wrote, “We won’t make America more powerful or prosperous by turning our backs on the world. Republicans’ WEAK national security plan makes us more vulnerable and the world less safe — while leaving our adversaries emboldened & unchecked. Watch me fight back with @AppropsDems:” (July 23, 2025).
He reiterated these views in Spanish later that day, stating, “No haremos que Estados Unidos sea más poderoso ni próspero dándole la espalda al mundo. El débil plan de seguridad nacional de los republicanos nos hace más vulnerables y al mundo menos seguro, a la vez que deja a nuestros adversarios envalentonados y sin control. Véame dar la” (July 23, 2025).
Espaillat also addressed immigration policy in another post: “The Trump Administration is blatantly lying about their immigration ‘enforcement,’ better known as cruelty. See my segment with @MajorCBS here: https://t.co/dzlEqH95oo” (July 23, 2025).
Adriano Espaillat has served in Congress since replacing Charles Rangel in 2017 and previously held seats in both the New York State Assembly and Senate. Born in Santiago, Dominican Republic in 1954 and currently residing in Manhattan, Espaillat graduated from Queens College of the City University of New York in 1978 with a BA.
