Adriano Espaillat, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 13th district and a longtime public servant, has issued a series of statements on social media addressing recent events in the Caribbean and actions taken by the Trump administration.
On September 2, 2025, Espaillat posted, “Mi oficina está siguiendo de cerca el desarrollo en el Caribe y la región circundante luego del ataque de hoy por parte de la administración Trump.” He followed up shortly after with another statement: “Para aquellos que no lo saben: ESTA es una invasión ilegal.”
The following day, Espaillat commented on his support for an initiative aimed at transparency, stating, “I’m proud to sign onto this. Americans deserve the whole truth and nothing but the truth. This is the way forward.”
Espaillat has represented New York’s 13th district in Congress since 2017, succeeding Charles Rangel. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in both the New York State Assembly from 1997 to 2010 and the New York State Senate from 2011 to 2016. Born in Santiago, Dominican Republic in 1954 and currently residing in Manhattan, Espaillat graduated from Queens College of the City University of New York with a BA in 1978.
