Adriano Espaillat, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 13th district, has announced a “Know Your Rights” event scheduled for this Saturday at St. Elizabeth-Star Senior Center Lower Church. The event aims to inform attendees about their rights in light of ongoing concerns regarding Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activities.

In a post dated February 5, 2026, Espaillat stated: “SAVE THE DATE: Join me this Saturday at St. Elizabeth-Star Senior Center Lower Church from 12:00pm-2:00pm for a Know Your Rights event! As ICE continues to scare immigrant communities across the nation, it’s important we know the extent of our rights.”

A subsequent tweet in Spanish on the same day reiterated the invitation: “¡SEPARE LA FECHA! Acompáñame este sábado, de 12:00 p.m. a 2:00 p.m., en el Centro de Personas Mayores Star, en la iglesia St. Elizabeth, para un evento de “Conozca Sus Derechos”. Dado que ICE continúa infundiendo miedo en las comunidades inmigrantes de todo el país, es”

Later that evening, Espaillat provided information for attendees to RSVP online: “Click here to RSVP:”

Espaillat has served in Congress since 2017 after replacing Charles Rangel and previously held seats in both the New York State Assembly and Senate. He was born in Santiago, Dominican Republic in 1954 and currently resides in Manhattan. He is an alumnus of Queens College, City University of New York.
