U.S. Congressman Adriano Espaillat, who represents New York’s 13th district, posted a series of tweets on September 4, 2025, alleging that efforts are underway to cover up the Jeffrey Epstein case and distract the public from seeking accountability.

In his first post at 20:56 UTC, Espaillat wrote, “The Epstein coverup is real, and the White House is pulling all stops to distract Americans from seeking the truth. This is how accountability dies, and how Trump seems to get away with everything. Not this time https://t.co/ySC4C1b2hB”.

One minute later, he added further detail by referencing past allegations: “For anyone who thinks it was just parties and old photos, remember 2016. Both Trump and Epstein were accused in a lawsuit of sexually assaulting a minor. The case was later dropped after the accuser said she was threatened. This is why the truth rarely makes it to the surface. https://t.co/PTKVgttpgX”.

A third tweet followed immediately after: “This is distraction happening right before our eyes. The moment the Epstein files got too close, the GOP started dodging questions, targeting their own base, and filling the news with noise and chaos. It’s all meant to make you forget what’s really at stake. https://t.co/LVr7WQu7HK”.

Adriano Espaillat has served in Congress since 2017 after succeeding Charles Rangel and previously held positions in both the New York State Assembly (1997–2010) and State Senate (2011–2016). Born in Santiago, Dominican Republic in 1954, Espaillat moved to Manhattan where he currently resides. He graduated from Queens College of the City University of New York in 1978 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
