Adriano Espaillat, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 13th district since 2017, posted a series of tweets on September 4, 2025, raising concerns about the handling of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein and the involvement of former President Donald Trump.
In his first post at 20:56 UTC, Espaillat stated, “Let’s also not forget what really happened. Trump built his campaign around promises to release the Epstein files. He talked about transparency, handed out binders, and made it a central issue. Then his name started appearing in the documents, and everything changed. The files”.
A minute later, he continued with another allegation: “This is what a rigged system really looks like. Trump’s lawyer gets promoted to Deputy AG, oversees closed-door talks with Ghislaine Maxwell—Epstein’s closest ally—and Trump hints at a pardon while the public is told not to worry. Everyone involved has something to hide. Every”.
Espaillat has served in Congress since replacing Charles Rangel in 2017 and previously held positions in both the New York State Assembly and Senate. Born in Santiago, Dominican Republic in 1954 and now residing in Manhattan, Espaillat graduated from Queens College of the City University of New York in 1978 with a BA.
