Adriano Espaillat, a U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 13th district, recently shared several statements on social media addressing pressing issues and expressing support for national figures. Serving in Congress since 2017 after replacing Charles Rangel, Espaillat has a longstanding political career that began in the New York State Assembly.

On May 18, 2025, Espaillat highlighted his recent appearance on MSNBC’s PoliticsNation alongside Rep. Yvette Clarke and Rev. Al Sharpton. In his tweet, he discussed their collective condemnation of what he described as “the Trump administration’s frontal attack on immigrant communities.” He stated emphatically that this is not merely a political issue but likened it to “a civil war” (“Por si te lo perdiste: No te pierdas mi segmento con la @RepYvetteClarke y el Rev. Sharpton en @PoliticsNation de MSNBC para denunciar el ataque frontal de la administración Trump contra las comunidades inmigrantes.”).

Later that day, Espaillat provided updates regarding an ongoing situation involving a water rescue operation. He mentioned being in direct communication with the Mexican ambassador and the mayor’s team to ensure all possible resources were deployed efficiently (“Seguimos de cerca la situación y hemos estado en comunicación directa con el embajador de México y el equipo del alcalde.”).

In another post dated May 18, 2025, Espaillat expressed personal support for President Joe Biden following news of his cancer diagnosis. Acknowledging Biden’s long service to the nation, he extended heartfelt prayers and well wishes to both the President and Dr. Jill Biden during this challenging time (“I extend my heartfelt prayers and well wishes to President Biden, Dr. Jill Biden…”).

Adriano Espaillat was born in Santiago, Dominican Republic in 1954 and resides in Manhattan. His educational background includes a BA from Queens College of City University of New York.
