Adriano Espaillat, currently serving as the U.S. Representative for New York’s 13th district, has used social media to address issues related to housing policy and government transparency. Espaillat, who succeeded Charles Rangel in Congress in 2017 and previously served in both the New York State Assembly and Senate, frequently comments on legislative matters affecting his constituents.

On July 14, 2025, Espaillat criticized Republican actions regarding housing resources. He stated, “Incluso en medio de una crisis por el costo de vida, los republicanos están dificultando que las familias puedan mantener un techo sobre sus cabezas. Recortar recursos del Departamento de Vivienda y Desarrollo Urbano es una medida cruel e irresponsable. Estoy luchando junto a”.

The following day, July 15, 2025, Espaillat emphasized the importance of government openness with two posts. In one tweet he wrote, “The American people demand transparency.”. He reiterated this message in Spanish shortly after: “El pueblo estadounidense demanda transparencia.”.

Adriano Espaillat was born in Santiago, Dominican Republic in 1954 and currently resides in Manhattan. He graduated from Queens College of the City University of New York in 1978 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
