Adriano Espaillat, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 13th district since 2017, has recently used his social media platform to address issues ranging from historical memory and voting rights to public health awareness.

On August 19, 2025, Espaillat posted: “Slavery marked one of the darkest periods of American history and to deny its cruel legacy is unconscionable. Donald Trump and this administration are once again trying to whitewash history…”

The following day, on August 20, he continued his criticism of former President Donald Trump’s policies with another post: “Donald Trump is doing all he can to impede access to the ballot and to erase the progress we’ve made to ensure every American had the opportunity to vote and to let their voice be heard.”

Espaillat also highlighted public health concerns during National Immunization Month. On August 21, he wrote: “August is National Immunization Month, and if the pandemic taught us anything, it’s that it’s important to protect yourself and your family by being vaccinated. Surveys show that many parents and young people struggle to access clear vaccine information, while media”

Espaillat has represented New York’s 13th District in Congress since replacing Charles Rangel in 2017. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in the New York State Assembly from 1997 to 2010 and in the New York State Senate from 2011 to 2016. Born in Santiago, Dominican Republic in 1954, Espaillat currently resides in Manhattan. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Queens College, City University of New York in 1978.
