Adriano Espaillat, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 13th district since 2017, recently used his social media platform to address several topics ranging from federal spending and healthcare access to recognition of leadership in the public health sector and community funding initiatives.
On March 11, 2026, Espaillat commented on defense spending under a former Fox News presenter: “Pete Hegseth (el expresentador de Fox News que se convirtiĂł en secretario de Defensa) gastĂł 93 mil millones de dĂłlares de los contribuyentes en un mes. 93 mil millones de dĂłlares. Los republicanos en el Congreso se aseguraron de que la gente perdiera el acceso a la atenciĂłn”.
Shortly after, he recognized Cristina Contreras during Women’s History Month: “En este Mes de la Historia de la Mujer, me enorgullece destacar a Cristina Contreras, CEO de NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln. Cristina, una lĂder dedicada al sector salud, trabaja para fortalecer los sistemas de salud pĂşblica, modernizar las operaciones hospitalarias y ampliar el” (March 11, 2026).
Later that day, Espaillat announced new funding for community support services: “Proud to secure over $1 million in federal Community Project Funding for We All Really Matter (W.A.R.M.), supporting their work assisting survivors of domestic violence and strengthening services for families across our district. This investment helps ensure that those in crisis https://t.co/xgNWttKENi” (March 11, 2026).
Espaillat has represented New York’s 13th district since replacing Charles Rangel in Congress in 2017. Prior to this role, he served in the New York State Assembly from 1997 to 2010 and the State Senate from 2011 to 2016. Born in Santiago, Dominican Republic in 1954 and currently residing in Manhattan at age 68, Espaillat graduated with a BA from Queens College of the City University of New York in 1978.
