Adriano Espaillat, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 13th district, shared a series of posts on social media between April 5 and April 7, 2026, addressing both holiday greetings and political commentary.
On April 5, Espaillat extended Easter wishes to his followers, writing: “De mi familia a la suya: ¡Felices Pascuas! Les deseamos a todos los que celebran un dÃa lleno de alegrÃa, esperanza, renovación y tiempo compartido con sus seres queridos.”
Shifting focus to national identity and legal debates on April 6, Espaillat stated: “If you are born in America, you are American. Supreme Court justices must recognize the radical, anti-American agenda of the Trump administration’s argument.” The following day, he reiterated this sentiment in Spanish: “Si naces en Estados Unidos, eres estadounidense. Los jueces de la Corte Suprema deben reconocer que el argumento de la administración Trump constituye una agenda radical y antiestadounidense.”
Espaillat has served in Congress since 2017 after succeeding Charles Rangel. He previously held positions in the New York State Assembly from 1997 to 2010 and the New York State Senate from 2011 to 2016. Born in Santiago, Dominican Republic in 1954 and currently residing in Manhattan at age 68, Espaillat graduated from Queens College of the City University of New York with a BA in 1978.
