Aaron Judge led the New York Yankees in 2025 with a performance that earned him his second consecutive MVP Award and third overall. Judge topped all Major League Baseball qualifiers in batting average, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage. This made him only the fifth player since the expansion era began in 1961 to lead MLB in all three categories during a season. The others who have achieved this are Miguel Cabrera (2013), Barry Bonds (2002), Larry Walker (1999), and George Brett (1980).
Judge also set a new record by hitting 20 home runs in the first inning over the course of the season, surpassing any other player’s total for home runs hit in a single inning during one season.
According to Sarah Langs, “Aaron Judge was stellar again in 2025, winning his second consecutive MVP Award and third overall. Judge led all MLB qualifiers in batting average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage, becoming the fifth player in the expansion era (1961) to do so. He joined Miguel Cabrera in 2013, Barry Bonds in 2002, Larry Walker in 1999 and George Brett in 1980. He also hit 20 first-inning home runs, two more than any other player in any single inning in a season in MLB history.”
These accomplishments reflect both Judge’s consistency at the plate and his ability to deliver early power for his team throughout the year.
