Queens Borough Cabinet to Learn about Cannabis and Alcohol Regulations

QUEENS, NY — The Queens Borough Cabinet, chaired by Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr., is scheduled to convene on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at 9:30 am.

The agenda for the meeting includes presentations from key regulatory agencies. The New York State Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) will provide insights into their work, focusing on the licensing process and the involvement of community boards. Additionally, the New York State Liquor Authority (SLA) will address ongoing issues and enforcement challenges related to liquor licensing and regulations.

The meeting will be held at the Borough President’s second-floor conference room at Queens Borough Hall in Kew Gardens. For wider accessibility, the proceedings will be live-streamed on the Borough President’s website and YouTube page.

Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr. will lead the proceedings, joined by members of the Queens Borough Cabinet, including Pascale Bernard, Deputy Director of Intergovernmental Affairs at OCM, Phillip Rumsey, Manager of Intergovernmental Outreach at OCM, and Lily Fan, Chair & Commissioner at SLA.

The Queens Borough Cabinet, as defined by the New York City Charter, consists of the Borough President, District Managers of each Community Board in the Borough, and representatives from city agencies. This body focuses on enhancing city service delivery, promoting agency responsiveness, and facilitates presentations from city officials and stakeholders on relevant issues.
