Yeshiva University Appoints Dr. Rebecca Cypess as New Dean of Yeshiva College and Stern College for Women

Yeshiva University has named Dr. Rebecca Cypess as the new dean of Yeshiva College and Stern College for Women, following a competitive national search. Dr. Cypess, currently serving as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, will take on her new role starting July 1, 2024.

Dr. Selma Botman, YU Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, expressed admiration for the outgoing dean, Karen Bacon, who will transition to the role of Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs. Dr. Botman praised Bacon's contributions, stating, "Karen’s contributions to YU are so profound and meaningful that they cannot be quantified or even simply explained."

Describing Dr. Cypess as an ideal fit for Yeshiva University, Dr. Botman highlighted her alignment with the university's mission and commitment to excellence. Dr. Cypess, a distinguished music scholar and professor, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity, stating, "I care deeply about YU...and I am eager to support its ongoing success and vitality."
